Apple Power Mac G4 Cube
2000 · One year in production · 150,000 ever made
Jobs wanted a computer that was also a sculpture. Fanless, silent, and breathtaking — killed after one year. We pulled this from an estate sale: original box, ADC adapter, fully working.
The Efficiency Argument
Melting down electronics destroys the enormous energy already invested in manufacturing. Roc E-Waste refurbishes and re-homes working devices, preserving 80–95% of their embodied carbon. We prioritize reuse — always.
Manufacturing a smartphone takes 70kg of raw materials and ~60 kWh of energy. Reusing it captures that investment instead of destroying it.
Items that can't be refurbished by Roc E-Waste are responsibly recycled through certified downstream partners — never landfilled.
Roc E-Waste's refurbished devices reach schools, nonprofits, and budget-conscious buyers — extending useful life by years.
Compare: traditional e-waste recyclers typically recover only 35–50% of material value and send 50%+ to smelters. Our 90% reuse rate means less mining, less manufacturing, less CO₂.

Apple Computer, Inc. — 2000–2001
A design icon ahead of its time, the G4 Cube was Steve Jobs' attempt to reinvent the personal computer as an objet d'art. Housed in a flawless 8" acrylic cube with no visible vents, it used convection cooling — radical for the era. Only 150,000 were ever sold before Apple discontinued it after one year, citing slow sales. Today it's a prized collector's piece and a testament to form pushing the limits of function.
This unit came in from an estate sale — fully functional, with original packaging and ADC display adapter intact.
